Mouse Anti-Human Sortilin

  • Sortilin (SORT1) is a member of the Vps10p family of sorting receptors. It mediates protein transport between the Golgi apparatus, endosomes, lysosomes, and plasma membrane. Functionally, Sortilin has been implicated in a wide array of biological processes, such as:

    • Glucose and lipid metabolism
    • Neural development
    • Programmed cell death

Furthermore, Sortilin plays a role in the progression of several human diseases, including:

    • Atherosclerosis and coronary artery disease: It influences lipid metabolism and cardiovascular health.
    • Alzheimer’s disease: It is linked to amyloid precursor protein transport.
    • Cancer: It regulates tumor progression pathways.

These multifaceted roles make Sortilin a vital target in research across various fields, including oncology, neuroscience, and cardiovascular studies.

    • Host Species: Mouse
    • Target Species: Human
    • Conjugation: Unconjugated
    • Clonality: Monoclonal
    • Isotype: IgG
    • Form: Liquid

    Purification

This antibody is purified via immunoaffinity chromatography using  a KLH-conjugated synthetic peptide derived from the human Neurotensin receptor type 3 (Sortilin) protein. The immunogen peptide was coupled to Sepharose 4B for enhanced purification.

    • Storage Instructions:
      • Store at -20°C upon receipt.
      • Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
      • The product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid.
    • Storage Buffer:
      • Phosphate buffered saline (pH 7.4) containing stabilizer and ≤0.09% sodium azide.

For extended storage, aliquot and freeze at -20°C or below. If the product is not completely clear after standing at room temperature, centrifuge before use.

This antibody is suitable for the following research applications:

  • Western Blotting (WB)
  • Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin/Frozen) (IHC-P/IHC-F)
  • Immunofluorescence (IF)
  • Dot Blot
  • Flow Cytometry (FCM)
  • Immunomicroscopy

Recommended starting dilutions:

  • Western Blotting: 3–5 µg/ml
  • IHC (Paraffin/Frozen): 5–10 µg/ml
  • Immunofluorescence: 5–10 µg/ml
  • Flow Cytometry: 5–10 µg/ml

Note: Optimal dilutions should be determined by the end-user based on experimental conditions.

Overview

The Mouse Anti-Human NTSR3 (Sortilin) antibody targets Sortilin (SORT1), a type I membrane glycoprotein encoded by the SORT1 gene. Sortilin is primarily expressed in the central nervous system and is involved in multiple biological processes, including glucose and lipid metabolism, neural development, and cell death. Additionally, Sortilin plays a significant role in major diseases like atherosclerosis, coronary artery disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and cancer.

The SORT1 gene encoding Sortilin has been identified as one of 27 loci associated with an increased risk of coronary artery disease, making it a significant target in cardiovascular and neurodegenerative research.
